The function of MSBR is further expanded by integrating it with trade database to be able the trade information connects to the traders’ characteristics. By integrating these two databases, DOSM can be in the better position to provide statistical indicators on trade by enterprise characteristics. Micro-data linking of MSBR and trade is to gain more data insights without initiating new survey. Ultimately, it enriches the international trade statistics by providing closer views of traders who are actively engaged in importing and exporting. This project is conducted to complement conventional trade statistics for an in-depth trade statistics of which the traditional trade statistics are unable to portray its business characteristic, economic activity, revenue size, enterprise age etc.Explore
In the era of ‘Big Data’, Price Intelligence (PI) implementation has been able to be enhanced to the next level, leveraging the capability of Big Data in collecting large data from various sources and transform them into better structure. It contributes new evolution in empirical research related with Price Intelligence as comprehensive data is now available so that complex statistical model can be implemented.
The transformation of business characteristics from offline (physical market) into online (e-commerce) creates a lot of market places offering various products and prices. All data availability issues that were facing before in doing experiments in statistics are now solved with the implementation of Big Data. By PI, different prices of the same good can be obtained through various websites, providing a modernized price collection.
PI’s main goal is to create a price list of different goods and provide the solution for consumers on the best prices available. Via web scraping, PI extracts the product prices from the internet through a method called web crawling. The prices will then be formed into a structured data and they’ll be classified into different categories. The consumer can then see for themselves a list of prices from hundreds of sellers and sort out the best prices for them through what we call Price Basket Enrichment, whereby the prices are made public.
PMAOS and RTOS were developed to provide DOSM with holistic and comprehensive insight of perception developed by media. Hence, these development later will give the precious reference for the DOSM to take the necessary action from perception and reaction made by publics.
With the technology constantly advancing, voices travel faster, easier, and opinions should no longer go through multiple channels to be reached out. PMAOS and RTOS created by DOSM to take all voices of community on statistics from the social media such as Facebook comments and tweets. It is mainly determine the degree of “happiness” of the community towards the official statistics.
